Hirsute campaigners issue Beard Warning over heat wave
The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has issued its first ever Beard Warning with another warm to hot weekend forecast.
The campaigners have issued updated guidelines on beard trimming and beard care including the strong suggestion that the hirsute should take the temperature of their beard at least four times a day to make sure it is not overheating.
The campaigners emphasise that trimming is entirely voluntary and that there are alternative ways to cool the beard including fans, freezer cabinets & real ale
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said the sustained period of hot weather is a potential crisis for the hirsute unless prudent measures are taken. Regular checks to make sure the beard is not over heating are essential

GUIDELINES FOR BEARDS IN HEAT WAVE SITUATIONS
Trim the beard with nail scissors. Do not use kitchen scissors.
Remove small numbers of follicles at a time and then check for impact
Wash and clean the beard once trimmed.
Do not indulge in excessive trimming leading to follicle free areas on the face. This can lead to sun burn
Inspect the beard after each exposure to the sun for follicle damage
Take the temperature of the beard at least four times daily. If it is above 25C emergency action to cool it and prevent follicle damage is essential
Shampoo the beard twice daily to nourish the follicles and counter-act the impact of hot sun
