The Tories NHS Culture War demands full support for action by NHS workers

Like Michael Rosen I owe my l life to the NHS, doctors, nurses and support staff. His poem rightly points out that nurses must look after their own well-being to be able to look after others. Equally the collective power of industrial action to improve pay and conditions will be a source of strength beyond what individuals can achieve on their own.

In particular I owe thanks to nurses, doctors and support staff at the University Hospital of Wales (Heath & Llandough) who through several operations kept me going between May and July and in November this year.

Government Ministers seem to be engaged in class war culture war where they lie about how much meeting the nurses wage claim would cost and refuse to acknowledge the damage they have done to the NHS since 2010. It must be said unfortunately that Labour’s Health Spokesperson Wes Streeting has not done what would hoped and expected and backed the nurses.

The job rests with the trade union movement, with communities and workplaces to underline to Sunak and Barclay that this is one culture war they are going to lose.

The Tories don’t care about the NHS we must.
