JANUARY 1st is NATIONAL NO SHAVING DAY

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that 2025 is set to start with the highest numbers of beard wearers since 1945.

National No Shaving Day takes place on Thursday 1st January.

The hirsute campaigners say that 1st January is the best day in the year to start a beard. With many celebrating until the early hours the last thing most want to do in the morning is to shave. As it is Bank Holiday with a further day before the official working week resumes for many the beard can be started in the privacy of the wearer’s own home.

The BLF has provided the following guidelines to starting a beard on Wednesday:

Step 1: do not shave

Step 2: by early afternoon, wash the face and comb through the developing stubble

Step 3: during the afternoon rub some craft beer, or alternatively lemon juice, into the developing facial hair to nourish it and promote growth

Step 4: In the evening you can begin to trim and style the proto-beard

BLF organiser Keith Flett said, Beards are set to be big again as 2026 dawns, with not only record numbers of designer beards but also a continued resurgence in the traditional organic full bearded style
