St Stephens set to pay reparations for the slave trade
The Church Commissioners have set aside £100 million for reparations for the slave trade. They have discovered that the Church was involved in the activities of the South Sea Bubble Company which was an important part of the slave trade. The irreligious right such as the Mail’s Andrew Pierce have of course moaned about it but the Archbishop of Canterbury has provided lines from the Bible to underline it’s the Christian thing to do. St Stephens has a very long history so hopefully the Vicar is already making plans
Village Shop in crisis
Maureen, one of those Ambridge characters, has quit the village shop after an incident in the stock room. Susan has blamed the Professor but there is a crisis over a replacement. Both Joy and Justin have volunteered but do either have the patience to work with Susan? We say the shop should be a proper community co-operative
Erik
Erik is said to be Jakob’s brother but his accent suggests someone who might have been a resident of The Bill and Eastenders as indeed he has. There is no news on whether he has a beard, but in general he seems rather too normal to be hang around in Ambridge for long. However a liaison with Kirsty has started. Shower scene?
Who are the Guardian readers in Ambridge?
Susan opined that the village shop couldn’t deliver a Guardian to a Telegraph reader. No doubt, but who are the Guardian readers in Ambridge? We say:
Vicar Alan Franks
Professor Jim
Pat Archer
Lynda Snell
