Beard Liberation Front
19th February
The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has paid tribute to the sports commentator Dickie Davies who has died aged 89.
Dickie Davies presented World of Sport on ITV to 1985 and in a world when sports commentators were entirely male and invariably clean shaven, his iconic moustache was ground breaking
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, its sad to bid farewell to Dickie Davies. His iconic moustache paved the way for Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer to appear with facial hair on Match of the Day in 2023. A towering figure in hirsute sports commentary
