This letter appears in The Times (11th July). It is of course about stereotypes but they only work (hence the letter got printed) if they contain an element of reality. I’m sure there are beer and lager drinkers at Wimbledon and there will be champagne drinkers in the hospitality boxes at Old Trafford but the letter does suggest a rudimentary class politics of drink and sport
