The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has welcomed the news that a decision by Police Scotland to shave off facial hair including beards and moustaches has been postponed for a year while the matter is reviewed.
Earlier in the year Police Scotland had said that the requirement to shave off facial hair was because it prevented protective masks, required in some policing situations, from fitting properly.
This was challenged by the Scottish police officers union and collective beard power has now forced a retreat.
