The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has welcomed a YouGov survey that shows the majority of men now have facial hair.
34% of men now have a beard with 13% wearing stubble with 54% overall having facial hair. In 2016 the comparable figure was 42%
The YouGov survey also suggests the prejudice against facial hair is declining.
The campaigners have welcomed the news but note that whether or not to wear a beard should be a matter of personal choice and in some areas of British society beard wearing is still frowned upon at best.
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, the fact that only 46% of men are now clean shaven underlines the impact the Beard Liberation Front has said since it was formed almost 30 years ago
