2023 Cricket World Cup may be the most hirsute ever
The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the 2023 Cricket World Cup currently underway in India, may be the most hirsute so far.
Players like Ben Stokes and Virat Kohli challenged for the honour of the Cricket World Cup in 2019 but the campaigners say that in the intervening period the understanding that beard power can help a team’s performance has grown.
Either with bat or ball correctly positioned follicles can interact with air currents and make a small but crucial difference to the flight and direction of the ball.
The key India v Pakistan game on 14th October features 21 out of 22 players with beards but elsewhere New Zealand have deployed Kane Williamson’s beard power again after a break.
The campaigners say that because beards can come and go it is too early to call the 2023 World Cup as the most hirsute ever but BLF Researchers are keeping a careful watch on the beard power on display in each game.
