The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that Wayne Rooney’s sacking as Birmingham City manager is likely to have been beard related.
Rooney was in charge at Birmingham for just 15 games during which time the club’s league position got worse rather than better.
The campaigners say that managerial beards can be a key to footballing success but they must be properly aligned in the context of the style of football a club plays. Rooney needs to learn from successful hirsute managers such as Jurgen Klopp and Ange Postecoglou
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, Beard Power is a key factor in modern football but the reality is that Wayne Rooney had the wrong sort of beard for the situation he was in.
