New Brexit regulations are set to levy a charge of £145 on small scale imports of items such as cheese and ham from the EU.
The regulations may mean less artisan cheese from Europe appearing in the UK and one cheese that may be hit is Gruyere, Winston Churchill’s favourite.
Gruyere is produced in Switzerland which is not part of the EU but operates by a series of agreements within an EU trading framework. Its not 100% clear at the moment what the new Brexit regulations will mean in this case but no doubt Culture Warriors can mount a Defend Gruyere campaign..
