The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has responded to Ed Davey’s latest eye catching election stunt involving a Bungee jump in Eastbourne, to do something he has never done before, and grow a beard.
The campaigners that the Liberals, a predecessor of the Liberal Democrats, were known as a party of beard wearers. On occasion this became a stereotype with sandals included in the mix.
In recent times the Liberal Democrats have tended towards clean shaven revisionism however,
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we say to Ed Davey, beards win votes. If he starts growing a beard the LibDems may capture even more Tory marginals on Thursday as voters seek the gravitas of a bearded leader.
