Liz Truss has been in Paris speaking at a conference organised by the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
On the face of it, its an Iranian opposition grouping in exile which wants a secular and democratic Iran. At various times it has been accused of terrorist links but in recent times appears to be US backed. Certainly General Keith Kellogg who has been appointed by Trump as a special envoy to Ukraine and Russia was present.
Truss again backed Trump while urging opposition- a new Cold War- against other authoritarian Governments such as China and Russia.
Truss declared that the way to cause the Iranian Government to fall was for the West to stop buying oil and gas from it. Having checked ONS figures the UK does not appear to do so- by far the biggest source being Norway.
This did not of course stop Truss from repeating one of her most used phrases (after The Blob) ‘drill, baby, drill’ by which she means fracking.
