Reform plans a Musk ‘break things’ strategy in local Councils they control
The unelected and unaccountable ‘chair’ of Nigel Farage’s political business vehicle Reform, Zia Yusuf has been on Laura Kuenssberg’s Sunday morning show and is quoted in the Guardian and Sunday Times.
Presumably Yusuf is appearing because Farage is still getting over his hangover. Yusuf, like Farage, has only the slightest relationship to reality.
The vast majority of local council spending is in areas such as education and social care. 15 years of austerity has led to most being in debt with services much reduced.
The words below Yusuf has simply lifted from Musk’s DOGE, which has created mayhem (deliberately) cost lots of money and achieved nothing at all in the way of efficiency. Musk doesn’t focus on potholes though.
The teams and taskforces Yusuf refers to don’t come free. For those who voted Reform and now find themselves with a Reform Council the phrase ‘be careful what you wish for’ may eventually come to mind
He said Reform would send “teams” into councils, adding: “We’ll be opening up application shortly. We want the brightest and the best. “If you’ve got experience in audit, if you’ve got experience in fixing potholes, if you’re a software engineer.
“We’re going to bring taskforces in. We’re now going to have access to the contract, access to the numbers, access to payroll, and we’re going to make these changes.”
