The Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride made a speech at the RSA in London on 5th June. It was mainly about how dreadful the Tories are and how there must be thoughtfulness on what they should do next. He noted the average age of a Tory voter in 2024 was 63.
Towards the end of his speech he went slightly off message and started talking about bats. This seemed to relate to plans for an HS2 bat tunnel. If Mr Stride had watched Springwatch he might have noticed that many people, probably including Tory voters, are rather keen on bats
Perhaps it would have been better to have booked the bats into Claridges and tucked them up in their little ‘bat beds’ with their ‘bat butlers’ to look after them and to have saved over a hundred million quid in the process? Well you get the idea!
