The campaigners say that the rule of the suit has been in decline for some time as people understand that a formal, smart and respectable appearance does not mean that the wearer will conform to such standards.
With an increasing frequency of higher temperatures, dress that is comfortable for office wearing is now an important matter. There is no maximum workplace temperature but a relaxation of any existing dress codes is one way to address the matter.
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we are firmly in support of people being able to dress and appear as they want in the workplace provided that it is safe and, where appropriate, smart for public facing roles. That includes of course the wearing of a beard, shorts and sandals
