Some may have seen that M&S is selling a strawberry and sweetened cream cheese sandwich during Wimbledon fortnight. I’m always interested to try new culinary departures. However as is often the case with market capitalism, when I visited a large M&S food store several days ago there were none to be found.
I thought I would try and variant which shifts the sandwich a bit more towards the savoury.
For the sandwich above I used basic white bread (the bread is not meant to be the star of the show here). The strawberries are from Sainsburys on this occasion, the last M&S batch I had were not quite top notch.
Instead of cream cheese I used Sinodun Hill goats cheese, a mature award winning cheese that has a rich savoury flavour.
The combo of the sweet tangy strawberries and the savoury goats cheese worked well to my taste, although I think a little less goat next time..

Dunno why there’s such excitement, they’ve done just this sandwich before (admittedly with chocolate flavoured bread… hmmm)
I like the strawberry and cream cheese combo in a bagel personally
