Rupert Murdoch has made no secret over the years that he would like to see the BBC abolished. It would be in the business interests of the Murdoch empire (Rupert is meant to have retired, sort of). The last person Boris Johnson officially met before resigning as PM (on July 3rd 2022 at Chequers) was Murdoch.
