Farage was not at the Cenotaph today but at a Remembrance event in Walton on the Naze which is in his Constituency. It was cancelled last year due to an insurance issue but has now resumed. Farage who has an interest in the First World War and military history was reportedly also honouring Private Herbert Columbine who has a statue in the town. He received the Victoria Cross for fighting off a German attack on his own on 22nd March 1918.

Farage’s somewhat unusual appearance, while sometimes seen in military parades of a certain kind, seems to suggest that he is determined to protect the future of the event
