The Hundred crowds 2026: the slow one now will later be fast

In Uncategorized on August 13, 2026 by kmflett

This post is not about The Hundred as such, of which I’m no fan, but the impact of the franchise takeover in 2026.

It has been as can be seen negative when it comes to crowds. Perhaps less freebies are being offered. Perhaps the change of identity and players has had an impact.

Notable that Sofia Gardens Cardiff has seen an increase. The Welsh Fire were the worst performing Hundred team. So in this case a change of players, womens and mens, is not a negative but a positive. Secondly unlike other venues ticket prices have been held, mainly £20/£25 not £40 or £50. Thirdly reportedly the new franchise partner has worked with Glamorgan rather than imposing an existing franchise model.

The title line is of course from Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are a Changin’

My thoughts on the Hundred are here
