Chris Mason is a BBC political correspondent but he has decided to become a football analyst as well.
The row over Manchester City is an important one and in my view serious measures are required. Although while City are the most flagrant example of Premiership rules breaking there may well be others.
Andy Burnham, Everton fan, and campaigner on Hillsborough, is rightly concerned about the impact on Manchester but is rightly keeping a distance from the specific issue despite Chris Mason’s efforts to draw him into it.
Mason is not the best regarded political commentator but football, any aspect of it, is not his domain. The BBC has professional journalists to cover the story.
