John Crace in the Guardian called Andrew Griffith’s speech to the Tory Conference on 5th October the worst ever.
The Times being a Tory paper praises the measures Griffith announced (Editorial) however Tom Peck’s report of the speech is very different,
‘He strode on stage with the poised enthusiasm of his doppelganger Gregg Wallace about to make light work of a creme brulee..mainly he promised to scrap as many taxes as he could think of.. it seemed as if he ended the speech without anyone noticing and wandered off, stage left, to the sound of silence’
