Holborn & St Pancras election: right splinters 3 ways

In Uncategorized on October 9, 2026 by kmflett

Perhaps the surprise of the Holborn & St Pancras By-Election was that the Green vote held up well, in the face of an increasingly hostile media campaign. That of course focused not on Netanyahu’s genocide in Gaza but on those who criticise him, even if the detail of the criticism was arguably not perfect.

As interesting and again little covered is the vote on the right. The right is never going to win the Constituency but how its votes split is of note. The Guardian detected a Badenoch bounce which seems rather problematic. The Tories maintained their vote share on a decreased turn-out. They were closely followed by Reform whose vote again went nowhere compared to 2024. They may take a little comfort from that sadly as Reform votes in London local elections are declining. Finally the fascist Restore got 692 votes. Far too many although it would have been more without the campaigning work of Stand Up To Racism, which drew whingeing from Fuhrer Lowe.

Once the Telegraph moves on from attacking Polanski they will no doubt look at this result and renew their concern that the right-wing electorate is currently splintered.
