After a lengthy process Oxford St has been part pedestrianised from 26th October. The part from Oxford Circus to Marble Arch is now free of cars, buses and cycles although not of course people.
The driver of the 98 bus pictured was Jackson Kabeeroe.
Of course buses will still run parallel to Oxford St, in Wigmore St and TFL says taxi ranks will be close by.
As someone whose knees suffer from many demonstrations (tbh the main reason I visit Oxford St) that is reassuring.
The significant reduction in traffic (deliveries overnight) will help air pollution and will make half of Oxford St a more pleasant place to be (although tbh there will still be many more pleasant place..)
