Beard Liberation Front says M&S’s Christmas advert shows contempt for hirsute customers

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that Marks & Spencer’s Christmas advert shows contempt for hirsute customers.

In the advert Santa Claus’s partner (Lucy Punch) suggests to Santa (James Norton) that he would look better without his traditional beard. Santa initially resists the suggestion but then shaves his beard.

He is seen enjoying Christmas festivities clean shaven much to the approval of his partner.

The campaigners say that aside from breaking the traditional understanding of children that Santa with a beard actually exists, the idea that he looks better without a beard is controversial.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, Marks and Spencer’s Christmas advert shows contempt for their many hirsute customers.
